Cheltenham Gold Cup Favourite Presenting Percy Entered For John Durkan Chase
Presenting Percy has been entered for the John Durkan Chase at Punchestown on Sunday.
The RSA Chase hero could make his seasonal debut in the 2m4f contest with connections plotting his route to the Cheltenham Gold Cup in March, a trace for which he is currently the favourite.
The Pat Kelly trained horse has risen sharply up the ratings over the past coupe of years and many believe he is now the one to beat in the ante-post Cheltenham Gold Cup betting.
The John Durkan could prove to be the idea starting point for the horse but it could also be a red hot contest with a host of star names entered at the five day stage.
Potential opponents for Presenting Percy include Blako Des Flos, who won the Ryanair Chase at Cheltenham last term and the brilliant Un De Sceaux who has been a top class animal for many years now.
The Noel Meade trained Disko could also return to the track on Sunday after a long lay-off with an injury which would add a further layer of intrigue to potentially one of the best races of the entire season.
All eyes will be on The Gold Cup favourite though with fans of Presenting Percy hoping the horse can stamp his name all over the market for the blue riband contest in March.
